US, UK saddened by Mohib Ullah murder

Bangladesh desk: The United States and the United Kingdom have expressed sadness at the murder of Rohingya leader Mohib Ullah and offered condolences to his family.

Mohib Ullah was murdered by unidentified miscreants at a Rohingya camp on Wednesday night.

“Saddened and disturbed by the murder of Mohammad Mohib Ullah, a courageous champion of the human rights of the Rohingya community,” US Ambassador to Bangladesh Earl Miller tweeted on Thursday.

“I offer my condolences to his family and hope the perpetrators are brought to justice,” he said.

“Shocked and saddened by the murder of Mohib Ullah, Leader of the Arakan Rohingya Society for Peace and Human Rights,” British High Commissioner in Dhaka Robert Dickson said in a tweet on Thursday.

“A tragic loss to his family, friends and the Rohingya community. My sincerest condolences,” he said.

In a tweet, the Canadian High Commission in Dhaka offered condolence to Mohib Ullah’s family and called for an end to violence in the Rohingya camps.

“We are deeply saddened by the murder of Md. Mohib Ullah, Chairman of the Arakan Rohingya Society for Peace and Human Rights. We will remember him as a selfless and courageous human rights activist and educator, who sought truth, justice and a better future for his community,” reads the post by the mission.
