Unbelievable West Indies stun Mominul

Sports Desk: Bangladesh Test captain Mominul Haque was left stunned by the West Indies team’s approach on the final day and didn’t hide his astonishment at the visitors chasing down 395 runs in the fourth innings to win the first Test.
While answering the questions from the media after the match, Mominul shared his disappointment at the way his bowlers bowled and expressed his surprise at the result of the match.
‘It was unexpected, unbelievable. But this is how the game is, sometimes miracles do happen. I think our bowlers could not bowl well whereas the two batsmen from West Indies [Kyle Mayers and Nkrumah Bonner] batted very well,’ Mominul said after conceding the three-wicket defeat on Sunday.
‘I never thought that we were going to lose the match. We dominated the first four days but ended up in the losing side which was beyond our imagination,’ he added.
Mominul, however, did not hold any particular group of players or individuals responsible for the defeat rather as he believed the entire team shared the blame.
‘When a team losses, you can’t point out any particular fault. When a team wins, everybody wins and at the same time when a team loses everybody loses. I don’t find any specific reason behind the loss, as when the team loses we all lose together,’ said the skipper.
Mominul also said the team dearly missed Shakib Al Hasan on the field.
‘If Shakib bhai was there, our bowling would be way more organised… He was missed dearly, especially his bowling,’ said Mominul, who replaced Shakib as Test captain.
The wicket behaved unlike a day five wicket usually does in the sub-continent but Mominul thinks that it was his team-mates that failed to convert the chances.
‘The wicket offered many opportunities. We could not utilise them. Even our bowlers bowled really well. Their two batsmen gave two chances, if we could use those chances the story could be different. The momentum could shift. It is hard to get someone out when he is set.’
