Tamim Iqbal makes first public appearance after heart attack

Sports desk:  Former Bangladesh cricket captain Tamim Iqbal was seen in public for the first time on Saturday after suffering a heart attack during a Dhaka Premier League (DPL) match last month.

Tamim made his appearance at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, where he came to support his team, Mohammedan Sporting Club, in a much-anticipated clash against their rivals, Abahani Limited.

Though not returning as a player just yet, Tamim looked in noticeably better health as he arrived in the afternoon. He first spent some time in the president’s box before heading over to the Mohammedan dressing room to meet his teammates.

The 35-year-old had collapsed during a DPL game at the Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan (BKSP) and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital in Gazipur. He later received further treatment at Dhaka’s Evercare Hospital and in Singapore, where a stent was inserted.

Tamim had been captaining Mohammedan this season before the medical emergency sidelined him. While there is still no confirmation regarding his return to professional cricket, his doctors have advised a recovery period of at least three months before any decisions are made.
