Cummins wants to make large number of Indian crowd silent

Sports desk: Australian skipper Pat Cummins showed a calm and serene expression on the eve of a match that may well define his legacy as a captain.

He said they had to embrace upsetting the crowd, and relish the chance to silence them whenever they could, so that they could finish the day with no regrets, regardless of the result.

“I think you’ve got to embrace it. The crowd’s obviously going to be very one-sided but it’s also in sport there’s nothing more satisfying than hearing a big crowd go silent and that’s the aim for us tomorrow (Sunday). Yeah, you’ve just got to embrace every part of it, every part of a final even you know in the lead-up there’s going to be noise and more people and interest and you just can’t get overwhelmed. You got to be up for it, you got to love it and just know whatever happens it’s fine but you just want to finish the day with no regrets,” Cummins said.

The Aussie captain said that while speaking to media at a pre-match press conference on Saturday ahead of the final game of the World Cup to be held on Sunday (November 19)

The match kicks off at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad at 2:00 pm local time and 2:30 pm Bangladesh time.

Commencing and concluding their campaign against each other, both India and Australia are set to play in front of a packed Narendra Modi Stadium. India started their tournament with a comprehensive victory over Australia and proceeded to achieve a flawless record with 10 consecutive wins, securing their place in the home World Cup final.

India and Australia have clashed in a total of 150 ODI matches, with Australia holding the clear edge in the head-to-head record. Australia leads this clash with 83 wins against India’s 57. 10 matches have concluded without a result.

In the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup, India and Australia have crossed paths 13 times, with Australia maintaining an advantage in the head-to-head record by winning 8 out of 13 matches.

Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium has been a good one of the batters. The highest team total recorded at this venue stands at 365/2. Out of the 32 ODIs held at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, teams batting first have secured victory in 17 contests, while the teams batting second have won 15 matches.

However, the final will be played on a used pitch which means it could be sluggish and the surface may assist spinners. Batting first in this case seems like the best idea.

As per the latest weather forecast for the India vs Australia ICC Cricket World Cup Final in Ahmedabad, rain will not play any part. The temperature will be around 32 degrees and the humidity will be around 36 percent.
