Delhi India’s most unsafe city for women, Kolkata safest: report
Delhi remains India’s most unsafe city for women while Kolkata continues to be the safest metro for them, according to the latest National Crime Record Bureau (NCRB) report.
Although Delhi reported an overall fall in the crime rate, owing in part to the Covid-19 pandemic last year, the national capital reported the highest number of violent crimes and other crimes against women among all the metropolitan cities of India, reports our New Delhi correspondent quoting the NCRB data for 2020, released yesterday.
Kolkata, however, has slipped to the second spot in terms of crimes covered under the Indian Penal Code.
More than 10,093 cases of crimes against women were registered in Delhi last year — more than twice the number of cases registered in Mumbai, Pune, Ghaziabad, Bangalore or Indore.
