US sends back over 100 Bangladeshis

The United States has sent back 101 Bangladeshis including women.

They were sent to Bangladesh by a special aircraft early Saturday afternoon.

After completion of all the formalities at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka, they were allowed to leave the airport at 4:00pm. At that time, there was a plastic bag with each of them. The names of the passengers and travel pass numbers were written on the bags. Most of the returnees were young men and women.

Brac’s Migration Program’s head Shariful Hasan said, “I have talked to the returnees who came back from the US. Each of them went the US via different countries spending Tk 25 lakh to 30 lakh on an average. But, they were arrested by the Homeland Security Department’s personnel there for illegal entry.”

He further said they were sent to deportation camps with punishment. They were sent to Bangladesh on Saturday by a special fligt.

Earlier, more Bangladeshis returned from the US at different times.
