Two students, 9 journos injured at DU as police fire rubber bullets

Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) sources said minimum nine journalists went to the emergency department of the hospital being injured after police fired rubber bullets, lobbed teargas shells, and charged sound grenades.
Besides, two bullet wounded students went there for treatment. They were Afsana Jui and Abdul Hannan Masud.
They said they brought out a peaceful coffin procession after gayebana janaza. At that time,police fired rubber bullets, lobbed teargas shells, and charged sound grenades targeting students from both sides.

The injured journalists were Jamuna TV reporter Bhaskar Bhaduri, Kalbela’s Akram Hossain and Jhony Raihan, Ajker Patrika’s Mojo reporter Shabib, SA TV’s Mojo reporter Rahmat Ullah, Channel SA reporter Sulaiman Kabirt, Alokito Protidin’s special correspondent Imran Hossain and New Provat’s reporter Humayun Ahmed.
Besides, Somoy TV’s photojournalist Ratan was injured when anti-quota protesters assault him physically at the same area.
Earlier, the students protesting quota in government jobs held gayebana janaza first at Central Shaheed Minar and then at the VC’s residence premises. Then they brought out a coffin procession towards the VC’s residence at Fuller Road. There police fired rubber bullets, lobbed teargas shells, and charged sound grenades targeting students from both sides. Police charged minimum five sound grenades and fired hundreds of rubber bullets.
