The Calcutta Deputy High Commission condemned India’s Subir Bhowmik’s anti-Bangladesh propaganda

Desk report. The Deputy High Commission of Bangladesh in Kolkata has condemned the anti-Bangladesh propaganda of Indian journalist Subir Bhowmik. In a press release, the Deputy High Commission urged all concerned to beware of the false information disseminated in the portals run by Subir Bhowmik.
The August 14 press release said that some portals based in the northeast of India had recently published false and baseless articles against the Prime Minister, Ministers and members of the Advisory Council, military and security forces and intelligence agencies.
Photoshopped photos of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan have also been published to damage the friendly relations between Bangladesh and India. The press release did not mention the name of Subir Bhowmik, we have learned that the portals called The EasternLink.com, LookIst.in and EnNow.in are run directly or indirectly by a rogue journalist. Subir Bhowmick is the editorial director of The EasternLink and an advisor to Lukeist. Lukeist manages one of his associates, Shuvro Gupta. On the other hand, Subir Bhowmik often writes on another portal called Ennau.
Recently, a photoshopped photo of Prime Minister Hasina and Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan was published in Subir Bhowmik’s The Easternling. There it is shown that Sheikh Hasina is shaking hands with Imran Khan in his office. However, since coming to power in 2009, Sheikh Hasina has never visited Pakistan. The article also made provocative statements about Bangladesh-India relations. Hasina is also presented as a ‘challenge’ for India. The statement further said that the journalist has a long history of spreading false information about Bangladesh. In 2016, the journalist also made false reports about the assassination attempt on the Prime Minister and the coup attempt against the government.
Subir Bhowmick wrote in an article in 2016 that a group of SSF men in charge of VIP security had staged a coup and tried to assassinate the Prime Minister. He further claimed that some SSF officers were also killed in the coup attempt. He also revealed the name of such a ‘killed’ officer. However, it was later found out that the officer was not only alive, he was performing SSF duties. The then Prime Minister’s Office also issued a statement in protest. The statement further said that false and provocative information against the military and security forces of Bangladesh has been disseminated in those portals. The notification also called upon all to ignore the false information disseminated on these portals.
