Students staging demo at DU protesting PM’s comment

Bangladesh desk:  Students  started their pre-announcement demonstration at Dhaka University (DU) at 12noon on Monday protesting Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s comment on quota.
Students from different halls and affiliated colleges started gathering in front of the Raju sculpture near TSC in processions before 12noon.
Meanwhile, the students of different medicals and different private varsities joint the protest rally against quota with public universities from today.
They chanted different slogans “Cheyechilam Odhiker-Hoye Gelam Razakar”, “Tumi Nou Ami Noi, Razakar Razakar”, “K Razakar K Razakar-Tui Razakar tui Razakar,” “Quota na Medha, Medha Medha.”

Some protestors alleged that when anti-quota protestors from Eden Mohila College were coming to join the rally, BCL leaders of the college unit obstructed them by locking the gate, triggering a clash around 12:30 pm.
Later, they came out of the college with the help of Dhaka College students.
At 10:45pm on Sunday, the students of Dhaka University took to the street Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s criticism of the anti-quota movement. Then they called a protest again this afternoon.

If the grandchildren of the freedom fighters don’t get quota benefits, should the grandchildren of Razakars get the benefit?,” the prime minister said at a press conference on Sunday which made angered the protestors.
