Shahed placed on 28-day remand in four cases

Bangladesh Desk: A Dhaka court today placed Regent Hospital Chairman Shahed Karim alias Md Shahed on 28-day remand in total four fraud cases and its Managing Director Masud Pervej on 21-day remand in three deception cases.

Of the four cases against Shahed, three were filed with Uttara West Police Station and one with Uttara East Police Station. On the other hand, of the three cases against Masud Pervej, two were filed with Uttara West Police Station and one with Uttara East Police Station.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rajesh Chowdhury passed the order as police produced the duo before the court after end of their 10-day remand in a case lodged for issuing fake COVID-19 test results, certificates and realizing money from patients illegally in the name of coronavirus tests and treatments.

Police pleaded for putting Shahed on total 40-day remand in the four cases.

Earlier, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Jasim on July 16 placed Shahed and Masud Pervej on 10-day remand each in a case lodged for issuing fake COVID-19 test results, certificates and realizing money from patients illegally in the name of coronavirus tests and treatments.

Shahed was arrested by RAB from Debhata upazilla of Shatkhira in the early hours of July 15 and was airlifted to the capital in the morning.
