Seven die at SaMCH allegedly for problem in central oxygen system

Bangladesh desk: Families of seven patients, who died of Covid-19 at Satkhira Medical College Hospital, claimed that they died due to the problem of the central oxygen system of the hospital.

Fourteen people including five women died of Covid-19 in 24 hours till Thursday morning at the hospital.

 

Families of the seven deceased raised complaints that their patients died due to the problem of the central oxygen system.

Satkhira Sadar Hospital’s medical officer Jayanta Kumar Sarkar confirmed the news to New Age.

According to the district health department sources, all the deceased were admitted to the flu corner and Covid unit of Satkhira Medical College Hospital between May 20 and June 30 with symptoms of coronavirus infection, including fever, cold, cough and shortness of breath.

While undergoing treatment at the hospital, they died at different times between 1:00am and 8:40pm on June 30. Seven of them died between 6:35pm and 6:55pm due to the oxygen crisis at the hospital.

The hospital faced oxygen crisis from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.

SaMCH superintendent Kudrat-e-Khuda said that the patients died due to low oxygen pressure.
