PM’s remarks about Aug 21 fabricated and baseless: Mirza Fakhrul

Bangladesh Desk: Terming Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s remarks involving BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in the August 21 grenade attack as “fabricated and baseless,” Bnagladesh Nationa party’s (BNP) secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said, “The Prime Minister’s comments are undesirable and completely politically motivated.”
He made the remarks in a statement sent to the media on Saturday.
Mirza Fakhrul said BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia went to ‘Sudha Sadan’ to console the present Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina following the grenade attack. But, she didn’t give permission to meet Khaleda Zia.
Fakhrul said the then prime minister Khaleda Zia got surprised and shocked when she heard about the sudden grenade attacks. She started enquiring about those who were dead and injured in the attack. Khaleda Zia also went to the Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka to see Awami League leader Ivy Rahman and the then security adviser to the Leader of Opposition Sheikh Hasina.
