People have no security due to absence of rule of law in Bangladesh: BNP Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) on Saturday said there is no security of people both inside and outside of their homes due to absence of rule of law in the country.

“The democratic and fundamental rights of people in Bangladesh are now wounded by the oppression of the current government. There is no minimum security inside and outside of people’s houses due to absence of rule of law,” said BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in a statement.
Blaming the government for resorting to oppression on  the opposition, Fakhrul said, “The illegitimate government continues to arrest the leaders and activists of the BNP and its affiliates from peaceful programmes through their loyal law enforcement agencies in order to destroy the BNP leadership, which is vocal against the misrule of Awami League led government.”
“Today’s attack of police during a peaceful procession in Noakhali and the arrest of Swechhasebak Dal district unit general secretary Mizanur Rahman are the continuation of this process (repression). An arrest warrant has issued against the party acting chairman Tarique Rahman in a fabricated and ill motivated case, as he becomes the prey of the government’s political vengeance.”
In order to stifle the movement of the opposition parties, including BNP, and to instill fear in the mind of common people, including the opposition leaders and activists, the government continues to its oppression and torture in a fascist manner,” Fakhrul added.
“However, just as in the past no autocratic leader has been able to suppress the leaders and activists of opposition parties through forced disappearances, murders, arrests and tortures, this government will also not be able to deter the pro-democracy people in the same way.”
Fakhrul expressed the hope that his party men would wage a movement against the autocratic government ignoring the the repression and torture of it.
He demanded immediate withdrawal of all false cases and arrest warrant issued against Tarique Rahman.
