Opening Padma Bridge’s nut-bolt is subversive act: CID

Bangladesh desk: Opening nut and bolt from the railing of the Padma Bridge is a subversive act, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has said.
“It is not possible to open the nuts and bolts of the Padma Bridge by hands only without any tools. This is a subversive act. All of those who were involved in opening the nuts and bolts of the Padma Bridge will be brought to book,”  Special Superintendent of Police of CID Rejaul Masud told a press conferee at the CID office in Dhaka on Monday.
Rezaul Masud said, “Although it was forbidden to stand or take pictures on the Padma Bridge, a young man named Bayezid Talha violated the restriction and opened the nut-bolt of the bridge on the first day of the opening to traffics. He removed nut and bolt from the bridge with malicious intention and made a TikTok video.”
The arrested also uploaded the video which went viral on his own TikTok account, he said. It is seen in the video that the young man was doing the heinous thing standing on the Padma Bridge with sarcastic gestures.

“In the viral video, he opened two nuts of the Padma Bridge with his hands and made mockery saying that this is our Padma Bridge. Look at our Padma Bridge worth thousands of crores of taka,” the CID officer mentioned.

A case has been filed against Bayezid under the Special Powers Act, said the official adding that the case will be investigated by the CID.
The CID official further said the video came to the notice of CID’s cyber monitoring team after it was uploaded in TikTok and went viral on social media.
Later, a team of CID conducted a drive and arrested the youth from Shantinagar area of the capital at 4.00 pm.
Asked if the youth have any political identity, Rezaul Masud said, “He (Bayezid)could have a political identity but we are taking his crime into account seriously.
