NTV news editor Shimanto Khokon found dead at home

Police recovered his hanging body early Tuesday afternoon from inside a bedroom of his residence.
However, police think that he had allegedly committed suicide.
Paltan Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Nasirul Amin said they suspected it would be a case of suicide, but the exact cause of death would be known after the autopsy.
Family members said Khokon had been suffering from various health issues and was reportedly distressed over rumours of losing his job. These issues had reportedly been troubling him for some time.
According to police, Khokon’s room had been locked since the morning. When family members unlocked the door to the room around 1:30pm, they found him hanging from a ceiling fan. Police were notified, and his body was recovered around 3:30pm.
Originally from Damitha union under Tarail upazila in Kishoreganj district, Shimanto Khokon is survived by his wife, two sons, and a daughter. He had been residing with his family at Chamelibagh.
NTV Head of News Fakrul Alam Kanchan expressed his grief saying: “We are on our way to his residence after hearing the tragic news.”
He also mentioned that Khokon had been suffering from mental distress due to personal issues.
