No election under AL government can be free, fair: Fakhrul

Bangladesh Nationalist Party secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
Bangladesh Nationalist Party secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Monday said that no election under Awami League government was held in a free and fair manner.
Awami League government had dropped the provision of caretaker government system from the constitution deliberately and deprived the voters of their voting rights in the elections, Fakhrul said.
He was addressing a rally in front of the National Press Club which was organised by Dhaka City South BNP to protest at vote riggings in three parliamentary by-elections held recently across the country.
BNP had rejected the election results and demanded fresh elections.
The party leader also said that the government was entirely corrupted.
Fakhrul called on the people, especially the youths, to be united and wage movements against the government.
The rally was chaired by Dhaka City South BNP president Habib Un Nabi Khan Sohel while the organisation general secretary Kazi Abul Basher, among others, addressed the programme.
Several hundred BNP leaders and activists from Dhaka city attended the rally.
