Model Tinni murder case verdict deferred again

Bangladesh desk: A Dhaka court on Monday deferred the verdict against former Jatiya Party MP Golam Faruk Ovi in a case filed over the murder of model Syeda Tania Mahbub Tinni.
Dhaka Additional District and Sessions Judge Keshsb Roy Chowdhury was scheduled to pronounce the verdict today. But the victim’s father Syed Mahbub Karim and her uncle Syed Rezaul Karim filed a petition seeking permission for recording their statements in the case.
The court set January 5 for recording the statements of Tinni’s father and uncle.

On October 26, the same court fixed November 15 for delivering the judgement in the case.

According to the case statement, Tinni was found dead near pillar no 11 of China-Bangladesh Friendship bridge over the Buriganga River in Keraniganj on November 10, 2002.

A case was filed in this connection on the following day.

On November 24, 2002, the case was shifted to Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

Investigation officer of the case Mozammel Haque submitted chargesheet in the case.

During investigation, police found involvement of Golam Faruk Ovi, former MP of Jatiya Party, in the case.

On July 14, 2010, Dhaka 7th Additional District and Session Judge framed charges against Ovi for killing Tinni.
