Massive fire breaks out at Bangladesh Secretariat

A devastating fire broke out in Building No. 7 of the Bangladesh Secretariat, the administrative headquarters of the government, located in the capital’s Segunbagicha area, early Thursday.
According to the Fire Service and Civil Defence headquarters, 18 firefighting units were working to control the blaze, but it was still burning at around 4:00am on Thursday.
The fire started around 1:30 AM, and in addition to the firefighting units, members of the Bangladesh Army, Border Guard Battalion, and police joined the operation to contain the fire.
Important ministries, including Finance, Road Transport and Bridges, Youth and Sports, and Local Government, are housed in the building.
