Major Sinha murder case: Liyakat in court for giving confessional statement

Teknaf police station’s suspended inspector Liyakat, the prime accused in Sinha murder case, was produced before the court of senior judicial magistrate Tamanna Farha on Sunday for giving a confessional statement under section 164.
The Rapid Action Battalion produced him before the court in the afternoon, said Mohammad Khairul Islam, senior assistant police super of RAB-15.
His medical checkup was conducted at the Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital in the morning, the RAB official said.
RAB took three cops, including Teknaf police officer-in-charge Pradeep Kumar Das, in their custody on Friday, August 28, 2020, for three more days for interrogation over the killing of retired army major Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan.
Sinha, 36, who took early retirement from the Bangladesh Army in November 2018, was shot dead at a police check point on Cox’s Bazar-Teknaf Marine Drive at Shamlapur under Teknaf upazila in Cox’s Bazar on July 31.
Sinha’s’s sister Sharmen Shahria Ferdush filed a murder case with the judicial magistrate court in Cox’s Bazar on August 5, accusing nine policemen, including the officer-in-charge of Teknaf police station Pradeep Kumar Das.
