Life-term imprisonment for Shahed sought

Bangladesh Desk: The prosecution has sought life term imprisonment for Regent Group chairman Shahed Karim alias Mohammad Shahed in an arms case.
They completed presentation of arguments before the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Imrul Kayes on Wednesday.
Dhaka Metropolitan Public Prosecutor Abdullah Abu sought life term imprisonment for Shahed during the arguments.
The court fixed September 20 for the next hearing of the case as the defence arguments have not ended.
On Wednesday, Shahed Karim pleaded not guilty and demanded justice in the court while giving self-defence statements.
RAB arrested Shahed on July 15 from under the Bailey Bridge in the Komarpur border area of Debhata Upazila in Satkhira, while he was fleeing to India.
They seized a pistol, three bullets and 2,330 Indian rupees, and he was then taken to Dhaka by helicopter. The case was registered at Debhata Police Station.
