Liaquat shot Major unarmed Sinha: Sifat

After introducing Major (Retd.) Sinha and his entourage at the Sifat Armed Police Battalion (APBN) checkpost on Marine Drive Road in Cox’s Bazar, the APBN told them to leave. But soon after, Inspector Liaquat approached their car and, as soon as he heard their identities, ran and left a drum in front of the car.
Major (retd) Sinha was shot dead by police on July 31. Police arrested Sifat who was with him at the time of the incident. Sifat gave this information while giving details as an eyewitness of the incident. The video, captured on the day of the arrest (July 31), was aired on private television channel Channel 24 on Wednesday .
Sifat said, ‘I got down and started walking backwards. When I was coming back, Unio (Sinha) got down and opened the car door. “Come down, come down,” he said. Then I heard gunshots. Then I saw Sinha Bhai falling to the ground. ‘
A court in Cox’s Bazar Major (Retd.) Sinha said. Rashed Khan has been granted a seven-day remand by seven people, including four policemen, in a case filed in connection with his murder.
Sinha said. After Rashed was shot dead, the police filed a murder case against Sifat to press charges. Along with that drug case was also given. Accused Sifat was released on bail on August 10.
About the day of the incident, Sifat said, ‘We had a tripod in our hands. Most likely no one understood. But we didn’t have any weapons when we came down the hill. ‘
When we arrived (at the check post) the rest of the OCs were there, they told us, “Okay, you go.” So then he (Liaqat) came while we were lifting the glass. He came and said, “Wait, he said again.”
“As soon as he heard the introduction, he ran and put the drum in front of him.”
Shortly afterwards, Sifat and Major (retd) saw Sinha lying on the ground.
‘Even then I thought maybe he (Sinha) didn’t feel it, maybe there was a hollow noise around, he was lying on the ground. But, then I see that blood is coming out of his (Sinha’s) body. ‘
Sifat added, “When Mr. Sinha got out of the car, I saw that he had put the pistol (inside the car). He is going out with both hands and opening the door. Later I was in the back, he was bent. I could no longer see his steps for the car.
Seven remanded
The RAB has sought a 10-day remand for questioning Constables Safanur Karim, Kamal Hossain and Abdullah Al Mamun and Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Liton Mia. They are all accused in the murder case filed by Sinha’s sister Sharmin Shahriar Ferdous.
The four were among seven policemen who surrendered to the court on August 8. Earlier, the court had allowed the investigating officer (IO) to interrogate Safanur, Kamal, Mamun and Liton at the jail gate.
The investigating officer of the case, RAB Assistant Superintendent of Police Jamil Ul Haq, arrested the three accused from Marishbania in Cox’s Bazar on Tuesday, Nurul Amin, Nizam Uddin and Md. Ayash was produced in court and remanded for 10 days.
The three were included as witnesses in a case filed by the police after Sinha’s murder.
Cox’s Bazar correspondent for The Daily Star , quoting lawyer Mohammad Mostafa, said Teknaf Senior Judicial Magistrate Tamanna Farah granted a seven-day remand after hearing a separate remand application.
“Tomorrow we will take the seven accused into our custody for questioning,” said Lt Col Ashiq Billah, director of the RAB’s legal and media wing.
He added that former Teknaf Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Pradeep Kumar Das, Inspector Liaquat Ali and Sub-Inspector Nandadulal Rakshit would be questioned.
On August 8, the court granted a seven-day remand to the three. The main accused in the case filed by Sinha’s sister is Inspector Liaquat Ali.
Note that Major (Retd.) Sinha went to Cox’s Bazar to make a travel video for a YouTube channel called ‘Just Go’. Rashed. He was returning to Cox’s Bazar from Teknaf after shooting on the night of July 31.
On the way, the police stopped his car at Shaplapur on Marine Drive Road.
Police claim Sinha aimed a gun at them as they were about to inspect the car. Inspector Liaquat fired at Sinha in defense of himself and his fellow policemen.
It is claimed that they also seized drugs from the car at that time.
However, the details of the incident given by the eyewitnesses do not match with the details of the police. They said Sinha got out of the car with his hands behind his head and police shot him in the same position. ( Courtesy: Daily Star)
