LDA calls for demo protesting attacks on BNP leaders

Bangladesh desk: Leaders of Left Democratic Alliance (LDA) on Friday announced the nationwide protest and demonstration in protest against ‘snatching the democratic rights and ensuring the rights of vote’ on December 13 next.
Terming the present Awami League goevrnment as a ‘fascist regime,’ they demanded immediate release of main opposition BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, standing committee member Mirza Abbas and other opposition leaders and activists were arrested over the BNP’s Dhaka rally scheduled to be held on Saturday.
Addressing a press conference at Moitree Auditorium of Mukti Bhaban in Purana Paltan in the capital, leaders of the LDA, a combine of six political parties, alleged that the Awami League government has resorted to torture, oppression and killing the BNP and seizing the democratic rights of people.
Ruhin Hossain Prince demanded punishment of the police personnel responsible for attacking the BNP central office, firing teargas shells and killing of a man in front of the BNP central office at Naya Paltan in Dhaka.
They also demanded release of BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, standing committee member Mirza Abbas and others who were arrested recently.
He called upon the government to take immediate steps so that BNP could hold their Dhaka divisional rally at Golapbagh ground on Saturday peacefully.
The LDA coordinator called on all the left political forces to be united and wage movements against the government for restoration of democracy and democratic rule in the country.
Socialist Party of Bangladesh general secretary Bazlur Rashhid Firoz, Revolutionary Communist League central leader Abdus Satter, SPB (Marxist) coordinator Masud Rana, Democratic Revolutionary Party general secretary Mushrefa Mishu, Samajtanrik Andolan executive president Abdul Ali were also present at the press conference.
