Keep the talk about women’s clothing size aside: Dipu Moni

Bangladesh desk: Education Minister Dipu Moni on Monday said that it is not the time to talk about the size of women’s clothing.

“The world is now moving forward, we will now talk about robotics science, artificial intelligence. It is not the time to talk about the clothing of women. We cannot make question about wearing a teep (bindi),” she said while addressing at a programme at the Secretariat in Dhaka.

Education Reporters Association, Bangladesh arranged the programme.

The Education Minister said, “Some communal incidents are occurring in some institutions. A few days ago there was talk about a teep. Now again talk is going on about the clothing of female students. These were settled issues in Bangladesh. Who are raising the new question? What is the purpose?”

Mentioning that people from Hindu and Buddhism were existed in this land for thousands of years, Dipu Moni said, “Christians have come to this region, their numbers have increased. Islam came, spread here. This land was home to people of all religions, cultures and 17 languages.”

A single nation was born through a great movement based on one language in this land, said the minister.

“We joined the Liberation War for secularism and that is a settled issue.”

Education Reporters Association, Bangladesh president Avijit Bhattacharya, general secretary Aktaruzzaman, advisor Rakib Uddin, former president Mushtaq Ahmed were present, among others, at the programme.
