I am ready to resign anytime: EC Mahbub

Election commissioner Mahbub Talukder on Monday said that he was ready to resign anytime if it was helpful for the nation.

He made the announcement at a press conference at his Nirbachan Bhaban office.

Mahbub said this responding to a journalist’s question that what he was thinking about the demand of 42 eminent citizens for the resignation of the Chief Election Commissioner and other election commissioners for their alleged involvement in corruption and irregularities.

On December 14, 2020, the eminent citizens submitted a letter along with some complaints to the president demanding action through a Supreme Judicial Council inquiry in this regard.

Later, CEC KM Nurul Huda rejected the allegations saying that it was baseless.
