Human chain protests death of DU student Hafizur

A human chain has been formed protesting the death of Dhaka University student Hafizur Rahman.

Hafizur’s fellow classmates and some other students formed the human chain at the foot of Raju Sculpture on  the campus on Monday morning.

Joining the programme, BCL general secretary Saddam Hossain has vowed that his party would not leave the street until the reason of DU student Hafizur Rahman’s death is unearthed.

Saddam Hossain, also the former DUCSU general secretary, criticised the role of law enforcers in this regard.

A student of Department of Information Science and Library Management, Hafizur was a mime artiste and general secretary of DU Mime Action.

He returned Dhaka from Brahmanbaria on May 15 and since then he was missing.

Police have recovered the body of Hafizur from behind the Central Shaheed Minar and sent to the morgue of Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Hafizur’s relatives identified him at the morgue on Sunday.
Shahbagh Police Station OC Ariful Islam said, “A few days ago we found a body in front of the gate of Dhaka Medical College. Not knowing the identity, we put the body in the hospital morgue. Hafizur’s elder brother then identified the body.”
