Govt using law enforcing agencies to serve its own purposes: Fakhrul

Bangladesh desk: The present Awami League government, in fact, believes in fascism and autocracy. They don’t tolerate any kind of opposing views or ideologies. As a result, they have completely destroyed democracy using the law enforcing agencies, particularly police force to serve its own purposes unlawfully, said BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam on Thursday.
“The Awami League wants to cling to power in Bangladesh forever. They are heading to establish one-party form of government in the country. The present government is working to reach this goal,” he said.
Fakhrul was talking to journalists while visiting an ailing Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) leader at a private hospital in the capital on Thursday.
The BNP secretary general went to see Habiganj district JCD organising secretary Shah Rajib Ahmed Ringon who was critically injured in police firing at a rally in Habiganj on December 22 last.
After being injured critically in Habiganj, he was first admitted to a local hospital and then brought in Dhaka.
Fakhrul also inquired about his latest health condition from doctors.
The BNP leader said bullets pierched throughout Rajib’s body. Fortunately, his eyes were saved. But, he received bullets on his face, back, chest. Such firing by police was intended to kill him.”This government will be unseat from power through launching a joint movement by people and people will give befitting replies to torture and repression.
Mohila Dal president Afroza Abbas, BNP’s health affairs secretary Dr Rafiqul Islam, former MP Shammi Akter, Dhaka City South BNP leader Habibur Rashid Habib, among others, were present.
