Girl gangraped inside train at Kamlapur station, 5 arrested
Bangladesh desk: A teenager girl was allegedly raped inside a local train at Kamlapur Railway Station on Friday night.
Police arrested five persons for their alleged involvement in the incident.
The arrested are Suman, 21, Naim, 25, Nazmul, 25, Anwar, 20 and Roman alias Kalu, 22. However, the main accused Imran has been absconding.
Police said several youths raped the 17-year-old girl inside a local train after she arrived at Kamlapur Railway Station from Netrakona on Friday (October 7) night.
The victim was examined at the One-Stop Service at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Saturday (October 8) afternoon.
Confirming the matter, Dhaka Railway Kamlapur Police Station’s sub-inspector (SI) Reaz Mahmud said the victim girl hails from Netrakona district. Being angry with parents, she got on board the Haor Express train on Friday (October 7) afternoon and got down at Kamlapur Railway Station in Dhaka. While sitting on 4/5 platforms, she had talked with one youth named Imran who sells bottled water at the station. After talking with the girl, Imran requested her to sleep on a bench of the platform.
As the night grew, then Imran came and asked the girl to sleep inside Turag Community local train on the Platform No. 1. After the girl entered the compartment, Imran closed the door of one side of the compartment. Then he along with his five companions entered the compartment through other side of the train and raped the girl one after another.
SI Reaz Mahmud said the accused fled the train seeing a Railway security personnel at about 1:00am who was patrolling in the area. At one stage, the security personnel became suspicious and saw a girl lying on the ground of the compartment. Then the security man informed the police station concerned and police rescued the victim from the train compartment.
The sub-inspector said five accused were arrested from the station area with the help of girl at night.
However, mastermind Imran is still absconding.
Dhaka Railway Police Station’s OC Ferdous Ahmed Biswas said being the plaintiff the rape victim girl filed a rape case. Five accused have been arrested so far in the case.
