Dengue death toll in Aug reaches 30 in Bangladesh

One more dengue patient died and 252 others were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8:00am on Sunday.

Bangladesh desk: : With the figures, the dengue death toll has reached 42 and the number of hospitalised patients 9,857 since January, according to a Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services press release.

In 29 days of August, 7,199 patients were hospitalised across the country.

In the 24 hours till Sunday morning, 202 dengue patients were hospitalised in Dhaka and 50 in other places of the country.

Of the people died of the Aedes mosquito-borne viral disease since January, 12 died in July and 30 in August, according to the DGHS release.

Among the total hospitalised patients since January, 9,028 or 91.59 per cent of the patients have been hospitalised in Dhaka city.

Dhaka North City Corporation mobile courts on Sunday realised Tk 1.48 lakh in fines from houses and establishments in 10 cases for the negligence over breeding grounds of Aedes mosquito.

On Sunday, 1,123 dengue patients, including 980 in the capital, were undergoing treatment at 41 government and private hospitals.

A total of 8,690 patients have so far returned home after recovery, according to the DGHS data.
