Bangladesh Covid-19: 63 dead, 2nd highest number of infections recorded

Bangladesh desk: Sixty-three people have died from Covid-19 in 24 hours (till 8am today), according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
With this the total number of deaths has reached 9,584 and the death rate stands at 1.42 percent.
At least 7,462 new infections were recorded in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 6,73,594, added the release.
This is the second highest number of infections recorded in a day so far in the country. The highest infection number–7,626 in a day– was recorded on April 7, 2021.
The current positivity rate is 23.57 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 13.62 percent.
A total of 31,654 samples were tested across the country in 24 hours (till 8am today).
At least 3,511 Covid-19 patients have recovered during the period.
Among the 63 deceased, 43 were men and 20 women while two were between 21-30 years old, five within 31-40, four between 41-50, 16 within 51-60 and 36 were above 60 years old, added the release.
