Bangladesh reports 13 more Indian variant cases

Bangladesh has reported 13 more Indian COVID-19 variant cases.
Of them, seven people did not visit India recently which means they have been infected locally.
“Seven new patients, did not visit India, have been detected with the new variant. So, it is confirmed that the transmission happened locally,” Prof Tahmina Shirin, director of the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR), said on Saturday morning.

The IEDCR shared this on the Global Initiative on Sharing All Influenza Data (GISAID) website recently.

Of the 13 new cases, seven were from Chapainawabganj.

On May 8, two people returned from India were detected with the Indian variant.
