BFIU seeks bank details of Pori Moni, Helena Jahangir

Bangladesh desk: Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit on Wednesday asked all the scheduled banks to submit bank account details of Dhallywood actress Shamsunnahar Smrity, known by her stage name Pori Moni, and sacked Awami League leader Helena Jahangir along with several others.

A BFIU letter confirmed the matter.

The BFIU also asked the banks to submit account details of film producer Nazrul Islam Raj, models Faria Mahbub Piasha, Marium Akter Mou, Piasha’s friend and car dealer Mishu Hasan.

Of them, Pori Moni, Nazrul Islam Raj, Faria Mahbub Piasha, Marium Akter Mou and Mishu Hasan are facing narcotics cases while Helena Jahangir was accused under Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Act, 2001.

BFIU usually seeks bank account details to banks upon receiving request from law enforcing agencies for investigations.

The BFIU asked the banks to provide account opening forms, know-your-customer forms, transaction profiles and updated data of the individuals within 3 days if any accounts were maintained with any of the banks.
