Bangladesh: Woman ‘takes own life’ after killing 2 children

Online desk: Failing to get justice for sexually assault of her minor daughter, a woman allegedly committed suicide after killing her two children in Kalaroa upaizla of Satkhira district on Thursday.
The deceased are Mahfuza Khatun,32, wife of a truck driver Shimul Hossain, and their children Mahfuz,9, and Mohona,5, of Purba Para village under Langoljhara union.
On information, Kalaroa Police Station OC Meer Khairul Kabir with his force and recovered the bodies.
Shimul’s father Abdar Ali told police that his co-villager Laltu’s son Hridoy,14, sexually assault his grand daughter Mohona three days ago.
As Mohona informed her mother about the matter, Mahfuza sought justice to local UP member Safijul who assured her to take measures after few days citing upcoming UP election .
Mahfuza then went to the UP chairman who suggested her to file a case.
But, Abdar Ali denied filing of a case in this regard for want of money.
Out of frustration, Mahfuza strangled her two children and committed suicide by hanging herself around 9am when Abdar Ali went out of home.
Mostafizur Rahman, superintendent of Satkhira Police, said action would be taken after investigation.
