Bangladesh : Registration for COVID-19 vaccination from January 26

The registration for COVID-19 vaccination begins on January 26 while the nationwide vaccination will start from the first week of February.

Director general of Directorate General of Health Services of Bangladesh ABM Khurshid Alam said this on Monday.

Earlier in the day, Beximco confirmed that 50 lakh units of the Serum Institute of India COVID-19 vaccine will arrive in Bangladesh in between January 21 to 25.

Its local vendor Beximco chief operating officer Rabbur Reza said on Monday.

The vaccine units will be stored at Beximco facilities after arrival. Later, the doses will be sent to EPI centre, he said.

Earlier on January 4, health minister Zahid Maleque said that the Bangladesh government was expecting the Indian government’s ban on the export of COVID-19 vaccine by the Serum Institute of India would not hamper the tripartite agreement with Bangladesh.

The government has a contract with Serum Institute of India to procure three crore doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine through its local vendor Beximco Pharmaceuticals for 1.5 crore people. New Age
