Bangladesh Noted actress Kabori dies of COVID-19

Legendary actress Sarah Begum Kabori died at Sheikh Russel Gastroliver Institute and Hospital in Dhaka on Friday night.
She breathed her last at the hospital at 12:20am, said her son Shaker Chisty.
She was 70. Kabori had been on life support at the ICU of Sheikh Russel Gastroliver Institute and Hospital since the April 15 afternoon. She finally died fighting for her life over the last 13 days.
Earlier, she was admitted to Kurmitola General Hospital in the capital at night on April 5.
It may be mentioned that after the Covid-19 test report came in hand early in the afternoon on April 5, Kabori learnt that she had tested Covid-19 positive. Afterward, she got admitted to the Kurmitola Hospital at night on April 5.
Kabori had been suffering from other physical complications including kidney ailments.
Sarah Begum Kabori was born in Chattogram on July 19, 1948.
The actress found a niche in the minds of millions since her debut through Subash Dutt’s ‘Sutorang’ in 1964. She used her popularity to boost the freedom fighters and Bangladeshi refugees in India during the War of Independence.
The acclaimed actress acted in about 200 films and won national film awards for two occasions — in 1978 for acting in ‘Sareng Bou’ and lifetime achievement award in 2013.
She has acted in films namely ‘Abirbhab’, ‘Je Agune Puri’, ‘Deep Nebhe Nai’, ‘Dorpo Churno’, ‘Neel Akasher Niche’, ‘Agantuk’, ‘Odhikar’, ‘Smritituku Thak’, ‘Rangbaz’, ‘Kanch Kata Heere’, ‘Upahar’ and others.
Kabori, also a former lawmaker from Narayanganj, started shooting for her new film “Ei Tumi Sei Tumi” in March last year, which is yet to end due to the ongoing pandemic.
