Bangladesh: Hefazat-police clashes leave several injured in N’ganj

Several people were injured, inducing two shot by bullet, during clashes between the activists of Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh and police in Signboard area of Narayanganj on Sunday.
The incident happened at about 11am.
Police and BGB members tried to remove the protesters from the road but failed. At one stage, the BGB men fired blank shots which led to the clashes, Siddhirganj Police Station SI Mokhlesur Rahman confirmed.
Witnesses said, Shafiqul Islam, 67, and Shakil, 35, were injured by bullet. Shakil was sent to Dhaka Medical college Hospital while Shafiqul was admitted to a local hospital.
Tense situation is prevailing in the area after several clashes.
Long-route vehicles have been kept stopped.
Picketers are being chased by police from the morning.
