Bangladesh: COVID-19 restrictions to be extended till April 28

The secretary-level committee on Monday decided to extend the ongoing restrictions on movement and overall activities for another week from April 22 to 28 to contain the upsurge in COVID-19 cases.
The decision was taken at a virtual meeting with cabinet secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam in the chair.
The committee has decided to extend the restrictions for a week in consultation with the technical committee on COVID-19, state minister for public administration Farhad Hossain told New Age.
A circular to the effect would be issued upon the prime minister’s approval, he said.
The eight-day restrictions came into force on April 14 morning and will continue till April 21 midnight.
The Cabinet Division issued a circular extending the restrictions initially effective from April 5 to April 11.
On April 5, the government slapped fresh restrictions on public movement and businesses, banning operations of all modes of public transport, including domestic flights, across the country for a week to contain the new wave of COVID-19 infections.
