Bangladesh: 35 injured in gas explosion at Narayanganj mosque

Bangladesh Desk: At least 35 people were injured, including three critically, in a gas explosion at Baitus Salat Jame Masjid in Paschim Talla area of Fatulla in Narayanganj on Friday night.
Most of them were rushed to Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.
Narayanganj fire service deputy assistant director Abdullah Al Arefin said that there was a leaked gas line underground of the mosque and the mosque was filled with gas.
Before Esha prayers, someone switched on a fan and the explosion occurred, he said adding that six air-conditioners of the mosque were also exploded, leaving at least 35 injured.
Four units of fire service rushed to the spot and put out fire after 20 minutes, Arefin said.
The burn unit resident medical officer Partha Sankar Pal said that they received around 20 burn victims from Narayanganj accident until 10:15pm.
Three of the victims were critically injured, he added.
