Bangabandhu’s under-construction statues vandalised in Kushtia

Bangladesh Desk: Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s underconstruction statues at Panch Rasta intersection in Kushtia town were vandalised by miscreants sometime on Friday night.
The culprits vandalised the face and some portion of the right hand of the statues set up at Panch Rasta intersection.
In protest against the vandalising the Bangabandhu’s statues, different political organisations in Kushtia staged demonstrations, brought out processions and formed human chains on Saturday morning after noticing the incident.
Kushtia Police Superintendent SM Tanvir Arafat said, “The CCTV footages were collected and it was seen that two people were damaging the statues around 2am. We are trying to identify them and nab them. They will be brought to justice soon.”
Kushtia-3 (Sadar) constituency’s member of parliament and Awami League joint general secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif said, “Such a heinous act would not be tolerated in any way. Those who had committed the crime and instigated from behind, they will face severe punishment.”
