Rayhan to be deported without being charged

Bangladesh Desk: Bangladeshi citizen Md Rayhan Kabir, who was interviewed in a documentary produced by Al Jazeera, will be deported from Malaysia without being charged.
Rayhan Kabir’s lawyers Sumitha Shaanthinni and C Selvaraja on Wednesday said Rayhan will be deported immediately after his Covid-19 test results.
One of the lawyers said, “The Immigration Department decided to deport Md Rayhan Kabir. There will be no charges against him.”
The deportation process would include getting a flight ticket to Bangladesh, they added.
Rayhan was arrested in Setapak, Kuala Lumpur on July 24 following the country’s Immigration Department’s appeal to the public to help track him down after he alleged in the Al-Jazeera documentary entitled “Locked Up in Malaysia’s Lockdown” that Malaysian authorities had mistreated illegal immigrants when implementing the Movement Control Order (MCO).
