6 platoons of BGB deployed in Jatrabari-Demra area

Bangladesh desk:  Six platoons of the Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB) have been deployed in Jatrabari and Demra areas of Dhaka following clashes among students of Dr Mahbubur Rahman Mollah College (DMRC), Kabi Nazrul Government College, and Government Shaheed Suhrawardy College.
Md Shariful Islam, Public Relations Officer at BGB headquarters, confirmed the deployment at 4PM on Monday.
Earlier, clashes among the students of Government Shahid Suhrawardy College, Kabi Nazrul Government College, and Dr Mahbubur Rahman Mollah College (DMRC) turned the Demra and Jatrabari areas of the city a into battlefields at around 12:30PM on Monday. Some locals also involved in the conflict.
According to the sources, the clash erupted after DMRC student named Abhijit Halder died due to the ‘wrong treatment’ at Dhaka National Medical College Hospital (DNMCH) and later, students from Molla College and other several colleges surrounded the hospital on Sunday, demanding justice for Abhijit’s death.
As a group of students of Government Shahid Suhrawardy College, Kabi Nazrul Government College under the banner of ‘Chharta Dal’ attacked the protesting students.
In retaliation for this attack, a programme  ‘Super Sunday’ was announced. As part of the programme, students from Molla College and around 30 colleges in and around Dhaka vandalized Suhrawardy College and Kabi Nazrul Government College.
During the incident, the honors first-year examination at Suhrawardy College center was postponed.
On Monday, students of Suhrawardy College and Kabi Nazrul Government College launched an attack on Molla College, creating a panic situation.

To bring the situation under control, a significant number of law enforcement personnel were deployed.
