48-hour countrywide goods transport strike called in Bangladesh

The strike will be enforced on October 12-13
The Bangladesh Truck-Covered Van Owners Workers Unity Council has announced a nationwide goods transport strike for 48 hours to push its 9-point demand.
The strike will be enforced on October 12-13.
Md Abdul Mannan, Chittagong regional chapter convener of the Bangladesh Truck-Covered Van Owners Workers Unity Council confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.
The platform announced the strike at a coordination meeting held at a local community centre on Saturday. The Chittagong regional chapter of the council organized the coordination meeting. “
We have been compelled to go for the strike as the government has implemented Road Transport Act-2018, shrugging off the interest of transport operators. We have placed a 9-point demand, including revising the act by December 31 of this year. As part of realizing the demands, the countrywide strike will be enforced for 48 hours,” he said.
