Bangladesh: 155 BNP leaders, activists sued over clash with police at Chandrima Udyan

BNP leaders and activists take a critically wounded activist to hospital after he was injured in police action against the party’s activists that gathered at Chandrima Udyan in Dhaka to pay homage to the party’s founder Ziaur Rahman on Tuesday morning.
Bangladesh desk: Police on Tuesday night filed a case against 155 BNP leaders and activists over the clash at Chandrima Udyan in the morning.
The case was filed with Sher-e-Banglanagar police station.
Aman Ullah Aman and member secretary Aminul Haque, who were injured in the clash, were also among the accused in the case.
47 BNP activists were shown arrested in the case and they were produced before a Dhaka court, said Sher-e-Banglanagar police station sub-inspector Israt Jahan.
Several dozens of Bangladesh Nationalist Party leaders and activists were injured in the clash between the party activists and police at Chandrima Udyan in Dhaka on Tuesday morning.
The clash took place when the newly elected leaders of Dhaka city north and south units along with activists went there for placing wreaths at the grave of BNP founder late president Ziaur Rahman.
BNP and the police blamed each other for the clash during which some vehicles were vandalised on nearby streets.
