Gill ruled out as Australia opt to bat against India

Australia captain Pat Cummins won the toss and opted to bat first in their opening match of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 against India at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday.

Marcus Stoinis will miss the match as he hasn’t yet recovered from his injury. Travis Head and Marcus Stoinis miss out for Australia due to injury, with David Warner and Mitch Marsh to open the batting on a sunny day at MA Chidambaram Stadium.

In the meantime, Ishan Kishan set to partner skipper Rohit Sharma at the top of the India batting order, replacing opening batter Shubman Gill, who is out with dengue.

India XI: Rohit Sharma (c), Ishan Kishan, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul (wk), Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj.
