2 UK passengers test Covid-19 positive at Kolkata airport

Two passengers from the UK have been tested Covid-19 positive after arriving at the airport in Kolkata.
A West Bengal Health and Family Welfare Department official said that a flight carrying 222 passengers from the UK arrived at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International (NSCBI) Airport in Kolkata on Sunday night, reports NDTV.
Of them, 25 passengers arrived without Covid-19 reports. They were taken to a nearby quarantine centre.
After conducting their coronavirus tests, two tested positive on Tuesday, health department officials said.
According to Covid-19 protocols in India, all international passengers coming to the country have to remain in isolation for seven days.
The information come at a time when the UK reports the outbreak of a new variant of coronavirus.

Several other countries including France, Germany, Ireland, the Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, Belgium, Italy, Austria, Spain, Portugal, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Turkey, Canada, Hong Kong, Israel, Czech Republic, Colombia, Morocco, Chile, Finland, and Argentina are among the countries – and counting – have suspended flights with the UK as well.
Bangladesh has yet to decide whether to suspend the lone weekly flight with the UK that is currently in operation.
