A mobile court has seized some 100kg of rotten rhinoceros meat conducting raid at Haji Biryani House in Sonaimuri of Noakhali district on Saturday night

Bangladesh desk: A mobile court has seized some 100kg of rotten rhinoceros meat conducting raid at Haji’s Biryani House in Sonaimuri of Noakhali district.

The mobile court led by Sonaimuri Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Fazlur Rahman conducted the raid at about 10:00pm on Saturday and seized the meat at Haji’s Biryani House. At that time, 70kg of raw and 30 kg of cooked rhinoceros meat from the shop.

The magistrate shut down shop and also fined Tk 30,000 for selling biryani with rotten rhinoceros meat.

Locals said Haji’s Biryani House got a lot of popularity ‘due to the taste’ of its biriyani. But, taking advantage of the popularitry, it had been selling biriyani cooking with rotten rhinoceros meat to make it tasteful to customers.

Executive magistrate Fazlur Rahman said Haji’s Biryani House in Sonaimuri Bazar has been deceiving people for a long time. Acting on a tip-off, 100kgs of rotten rhinoceros meat was seized from the shop. The shop was also fined Tk 30,000 and shut down temporarily.
