Bangladesh Denim Expo re-opens after 2 years

Business desk: After a two-year break due to the coronavirus outbreak, the 12th edition of Bangladesh Denim Expo is set to be held on May 10 at the city’s International Convention City, Bashundhara.

A total of 79 exhibitors are set to attend the three-day event, consisting of both local and international participants, said a press release issued by Bangladesh Denim Expo on Friday.

In this edition, with the theme ‘Beyond Business’, exhibitors will display fabrics, garments, threads, machinery, finishing equipment and accessories, positioning the show as a representation of Bangladesh’s denim industry, the largest denim exporter to the European Union and the United States, the press release said.

Through a series of product displays, seminar sessions and panel discussions, the expo will encourage robust interaction among exhibitors and visitors, it said.

It said that a total of eight seminar sessions and two panel discussions would be held in the edition of the expo, reflecting its overriding ‘Beyond Business’ theme.

Founder chief executive officer of Bangladesh Denim Expo Mostafiz Uddin said that the denim supply chain had experienced major turbulence and disruption in the last two years, forcing the sector to innovate and adapt in order to survive and remain relevant.

The pandemic has forced suppliers to double-down on sustainability issues, Mostafiz said.

‘That is what global consumers are demanding in the post-pandemic world and this message is being passed down supply chains through fashion brands and retailers,’ he said.

‘Our show will act as a lightning rod on these issues, bringing together all the denim stakeholders from across the world under the roof of the expo,’ Mostafiz added.
