Second phase of lockdown begins in Satkhira

Online reports: A seven-day lockdown has started in the second phase in Satkhira on Saturday.
Police were seen setting up barricades in the morning to control the movement of people and vehicles unnecessarily. However, there is a slight relaxation in the lockdown.
Meanwhile, the health department is struggling to provide adequate beds, doctors and manpower to treat Covid-19 patients.
Of the 715 covid19 positive patients, 135 patients are undergoing treatment at Satkhira Medical College Hospital and 35 at Sadar Hospital. Other patients have been kept in institutional and family quarantine.
Satkhira Civil Surgeon Dr Hussain Shafayet said Satkhira Medical College Hospital has eight isolation and 135 general beds as well as an eight-bed ICU. Besides, there are only 35 beds in the corona unit of Sadar Hospital. Doctors are struggling to provide treatment as there are no more beds and manpower.
He added that work is underway to set up 15 more beds in Satkhira Medical College Hospital today.
Six people in Satkhira have tested positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours till Saturday morning. There has been some relief as the infection rate has dropped below 36 percent.
