Preparations on to bring bodies of three students killed in Toronto

Preparations are going on to send the bodies of three Bangladeshi students, who died in a road crash in Toronto on Monday night.

Online desk: The bodies of Shahriar Mahir Khan, Arian Alam Dipto and Angela Shreya Baroi are scheduled to reach Dhaka from Toronto on February 24.

The National Identity Card of Shahriar Mahir Khan reads that his father is Sharifur Rahman Khan who hails from Ashulia in Dhaka. His family lives at Basundhara Residential Area.

Arian Alam Dipto is the son of ATM Alamgir who lives at West Nakhalpara in Dhaka. He is an owner of a real estate business.

According to the father, Dipto moved to Toronto in 2021 for higher studies after completing his GCSE and A levels from Dhaka’s Mastermind and Oxford International School, respectively. After completing a diploma from a community college in Toronto, Dipto just started studying for chartered accounting at Humber College in the Canadian city of Toronto.

The namaj-e-janaza of Shahriar Mahir Khan and Arian Alam Dipto will be held at Masjid Al Abedeen (IRCC), Stamford Square in Scarborough in Toronto at 1pm on February 20.

Local Weekly Bangla Mail’s editor has said Bangladesh Islamic Funeral Services will arrange bath and janaza of the dead bodies and sending those to Dhaka.

Besides, a condolence meeting will be held from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on February 19 (Sunday) at Lotus Funeral and Cremation Centre in Etobicoke to pay last respect to Angela Baroi.

Meanwhile, Angela’s father James Sunam Baroi arrived in Toronto from Dhaka on Thursday (February 16) to receive his daughter’s body.

According to family members, Shreya completed her ‘O’ levels in 2019 and soon after she along with her parents and younger brother, Shuvyau, left the country for Canada. She was a student at Toronto University.

Police have already issued clearance certificates for taking the dead bodies to Bangladesh.

It is  learnt that the bodies of Mahi and Dipto will be sent by Biman Bangladesh Airlines.

Meanwhile, singer Kumar Biswajit’s only son Nibir Kumar Dey who was critically injured in the road accident is undergoing treatment at St Micheal Hospital in Toronto.

Dipto and Shahriar Khan, who were in the backseat of a BMW Sedan crashed in Toronto on Monday night, died on the spot, while Angela Shreya Baroi, sitting beside the driver, was pronounced dead after she was rushed to a hospital by first responders.

The driver, Nibir Kumar Dey, the lone child of Bangladeshi singer Kumar Biswajit, was in critical condition and is now undergoing treatment at the intensive care unit of St Micheal Hospital in Toronto.

His parents, Kumar Biswajit and Naima Sultana, flew to Toronto on Tuesday.
