Jefferson Fellows of Bangladesh demand Journalist Rozina’s release

Management and Resources Development Initiative has condemned the harassment on Prothom Alo senior journalist Rozina Islam while kept her confined and filing a case against her in Official Secrets Act.

The media training platform also demanded immediate withdrawal of the case and an unconditional release of the journalist, said a handout on Wednesday.

Rozina Islam is a professional journalist. She is nationally and internationally recognized for her investigative journalism. She has unearthed some incidents of corruptions and irregularities in the health sector during the Covid-19 pandemic. Harassing the journalist by filing a case is not only a blow on journalism, but on professionalism, the handout reads.

The incident is against the freedom of media, free journalism, and public interest.

The MRDI demanded an impartial investigation of the matter and punishment to the responsible persons, said the handout.
