Jamaat leader Delwar Hossain Sayeedi dies of heart attack

Former politician and lecturer Delwar Hossain Sayeedi died of a heart attack at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Hospital in the capital on Monday (August 14) night.
BSMMU director Brigadier General Dr. Md. Rezaur Rahman confirmed it.
According to the prison authority sources, Delawar Hossain Sayeedi had remained in prison in Kashimpur Central Jail for a long time before receiving life-term imprisonment over Crimes Against Humanity.
At around 5:00pm on Sunday, he was first taken to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital in Gazipur from Kashimpur Jail as he fell sick with chest pain. He was later referred to the BSMMU for advanced treatment where he died of heart attack on Monday night.
Sayedee was arrested on June 29, 2010, on charges of hurting religious sentiments, and on August 2, 2010, he was shown arrested in a case of crimes against humanity.
On February 28, 2013, the International Crimes Tribunal sentenced Sayedee to death for war crimes, which was later commuted to a jail sentence until his death.
